In our Year in Review, we look back on the murders, tragedies, restaurant news, celebrity sightings and #SMH moments that impacted the Hudson Valley in 2017.

In this post, we take a look back the many openings, closings and more when it comes to restaurants in the Hudson Valley.

Just after the New Year, at a time when many people make a resolution to lose weight, Muscle Maker Grill at the Mid-Valley Mall in Newburgh closed down, with little to no warning.

Also in January, we learned a historic diner was going to make the long journey across the Hudson River.

The Grand Gorge Diner moved the diner from Great Gorge to Germantown.

In February, Bloomin' Brands, which operates Outback Steakhouse,  Bonefish Grill, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, announced they were closing many locations nationwide.

Thankfully, the Bonefish Grill in Poughkeepsie and Outback Steakhouse in Wappinger Falls were not among the closures.

In March, just two months after opening, the Poughkeepsie Golden Corral closed down. The buffet was supposed to open in Sept of 2016, but the opening was pushed back several times, to January.

Also in March, an explosion and fire rocked Joseph's Steakhouse on Route 9G in Hyde Park.

The Melting Pot in the Poughkeepsie Galleria let their employees know on March 26, that the restaurant would no longer exist.

In April, after many attempts, WRRV's campaign to bring a White Castle to the Mid-Hudson Valley officially gotten the attention of White Castle corporate headquarters.

In June, Smoothie King announced they would be opening up their legendary smoothie shop in Wappingers Falls, at the site what used to be Bad Ass Coffee.

Last month, around Thanksgiving, with little notice, Uno Chicago Grill in Poughkeepsie shut down its doors after several decades in operation.

Finally, in May,  we released data from the New York State Department of Health which showed eight local restaurants were cited with five or more critical violations.
