Construction is ready to begin on a $95 million food plant which should lead to around 1,000 Hudson Valley jobs.

On Friday, June 21, Amy’s Kitchen is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Goshen food distribution center.

Amy’s Kitchen is turning empty property, located between 100 Echo Lake Road and Route 17M in Goshen, into a $95 million, 369,000-square-foot meal-manufacturing plant.

The new plant is expected to create 700 local jobs, with a strong chance of expanding to 1,000 jobs.

“It’s time for Amy’s Kitchen to start cooking in Orange County," U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer said in a press release. “And guess what is on the menu? Jobs, jobs, jobs!”

The California-based family-owned company cooks meals from wholesome, non-GMO and organic ingredients. The company has historically relied on local communities and small businesses to provide ingredients. Its products are sold at many large national retail chains, including ShopRite, Price Chopper and Wal-Mart.

Amy’s offers over 250 products including gluten-free, dairy-free, low sodium, light and vegan options. The company produces pizzas, burritos, veggie burgers, bowls, pot pies, snacks, cakes, soups, beans, pasta sauces, salsas and more.

In 2014, Amy’s Kitchen announced plans to build in Goshen. The Hudson Valley plant will be the company's first plant on the East Coast. Amy's Kitchen also has kitchens in Californa, Idaho and Oregon.
