Hudson Valley Priest Allegedly Sexually Abused Minor
A Hudson Valley priest has been accused of sexually abusing a minor in the 1990s.
The Times Herald-Record reports that Reverend Daniel O'Hare has been accused of sexual abuse. Rev. O'Hare is currently a pastor at Holy Name of Mary-Assumption, which serves Maybrook and Montgomery. O'Hare has denied the allegations.
According to the Times Herald-Record, the Archdiocese of New York learned about the allegations last week from the Orange County District Attorney's office. After contacting the Orange County District Attorney's office, Executive Assistant District Attorney Robert Conflitti said the District Attorney's office had no information on the allegations and therefore could not provide a comment.
O'Hare has stepped aside and will not perform any public ministerial duties, according to The Times Herald-Record. He will be stepping aside as the Archdiocese of New York conducts an independent investigation. I contacted the Archdiocese of New York and am waiting on a response regarding the allegations.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan has asked anyone with information regarding the allegations against Rev. Daniel O'Hare to contact the district attorney's office or the Archdiocese's victim's assistance coordinator and Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program.
