Wrong Way Driver in I-84 Collision Was High, Police Say
The 45-year old Pennsylvania man was arrested following the crash.
On January 2, at approximately 8:20 a.m., troopers responded to the eastbound Interstate 84 exit 19 off-ramp onto State Route 312 for a head-on collision.
Investigation found that Christopher S. Franz, 45, of Broomall, P.A. operating a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, drove the wrong way on the ramp, and struck a 2016 pickup truck operated by Moises Rios Castro, 46, of Carmel, NY, and his child passenger.
All parties were transported to Danbury Hospital for minor injuries.
Franz was determined to be under the influence of drugs and was subsequently. Upon release from the hospital, Franz was arraigned and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash or $6,000 bond.
He is schedule to return to court later this month.
